The Probus Club of Edinburgh

Purpose
The Probus Club of Edinburgh is an autonomous group of retired professional and business men. Like other Probus clubs throughout the world, it provides for its members a regular meeting point, increased social contacts, and opportunities to meet others in similar circumstances. It was established in 1986 – as an initiative of the Rotary Club of Edinburgh – and at full strength has a membership of 70. Currently the annual subscription is £15.
Activities and Venue
Club activities centre on meetings held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month apart from June, July, August and December. An invited speaker (who occasionally is a Club member) gives a talk or presentation on a specified subject, lasting about an hour. The meetings are at 10.15 for 10.30 at St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Lothian Road, Edinburgh: in the shadow of the Castle and only a hundred yards from Princes Street. Additionally, external visits are organised – as well as an annual President’s lunch – and at these members’ wives/partners are welcome.
